OpenLib is public to browse, but some actions require an account so contributions can be reviewed, attributed, and protected from spam.

What accounts unlock #

Signed-in users can:

  • Submit apps.
  • Write reviews.
  • Suggest edit requests.
  • Report apps.
  • Claim ownership of projects.
  • Create or join organizations.
  • Build contribution history.
  • Apply for trusted roles.

Profile information #

Profiles can show public contribution context such as role, verified status, organizations, apps, submissions, reviews, edit requests, and reports.

The goal is accountability without making normal users feel exposed.

Verified and team badges #

Badges help visitors understand context:
